Amazing...
I just had the most amazing moment. I had just fed Gentry and he was asleep in my arms. I could hear the pitter patter of August's feet in her room upstairs. (She was supposed to be asleep.) I just had these big crocodile tears well up in my eyes. Gentry is almost 8 weeks old and I don't remember a time without him. I worried when I was pregnant that I would not have the room in my heart for a second child. Let me tell you, the love in my heart is running over... And it is coming out my eyes! I have no other words for my feelings except that I hope every person can feel the same way that I feel in this moment.

Birthday Party, Part 2934798237497234
This is a link to Amy's blog. August spent the evening with Amy and Rylan. This is too funny not to share on my blog, too.

He Smiles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have tried for a week to get this picture! Finally, I got it. Travis was talking to him this morning about him being up all night. He was up three times...I think...I don't really remember... Anyway. Gentry was just a grinning as big as he could. The second picture is my favorite! :)
This is a necklace that mom and dad have gotten for me. It is so pretty! I just had to share it. The letter charms by themselves are pretty but the pearls in between really set it off. I wear this all the time and get alot of compliments on it. It must be very hip. One of my high school customers at work even told me she liked it. Do they say "hip" or should I call it "cool"? Hmm... That is the question of the day. Visit http://thevintagepearl.com/ to see more charms and stuff.

Like Mother Like Daughter
One of Aug's birthday presents was a digital camera. It's one of those cool kid cameras that is hard t break. She has taken about 100 pictures since Monday night when she got it. Sound familiar? That's about how many I take at a time! Most of the pictures are of the floor or totally black. These are some of her best.
I took the kids to the doctor yesterday for a check-up. Gentry is in the 97th percentile for his weight. The doctor told me to try to space out his feedings. Uh huh, yeah right! She also suggested that I give him water between feedings. That is not working so well. He knows that what he is drinking is not right and he groans the whole way through it.
By the way, all my ducks were in a row this morning and there were 31 Internet Explorer windows open. Hmmm...wonder who did that?

Ducks in a Row
Most nights August gets out of bed. I usually find some sort of evidence of this occurrence. She closes a door, colors with a pen from my computer desk, uses my lotion, plays in my makeup, or puts her teddy bear in Gentry's cradle. Last night I was walking upstairs and found this. I guess she needed her ducks in a row before she could sleep. She just melts my heart!

My Little Hoss
So I have spent the last week feeding Gentry 5 ounces about every 2 hours during the day and every 3-4 during the night. I finally got some cereal yesterday. What an experience. He either doesn't like the bottle (because it is a different one for thicker liquids) or he doesn't like the cereal. It is difficult to get him to take it. He had two cereal bottles yesterday. Those went very well. The bottle this morning was a different story. I got him to take about three ounces and called it good. An hour later he gave it all back. He spit up everywhere! However, it has been four hours since I gave him that bottle and he still isn't hungry. I don't know what is better...feeding every two hours or dealing with spit up. I'll have to think about that one and get back to you.
August asks me at least once a day, "Mommy, you tired?" Finally last night I told her that I would be tired for at least the next 18 years. You get to stop worrying about them after that. Right?

Hoppy Easter!
August was blowing bubbles with her second cousins. I got this picture just as a bubble was floating by.
Aug and her second cousins.
Alex and his brother, Jack. August. Caroline and her brother, Emery.
August and her cousins. Perrin, Simon, Rolande (holding Gentry), twins Isaac and Ayden, and Stephen in the back.
Aug opening, well actually she was eating her way through her eggs.
Aug's 3rd Birthday Party
We had Aug's birthday party on Saturday. You can probably see that it was a Hello Kitty party. The girl loves pink and Hello Kitty! My favorite part is the tutu (or three-three as Dad was calling it) that mom made for her.
August pulled us in close for this picture!
As the tradition has gone, August has gotten a pair of shoes every year on her birthday. Her first birthday was cowgirl boots from Amy and Rylan. Her second birthday was Nike Shocks from Derek and Michelle. This year she got rubber boots from us and Derek and Michelle. Yep, she got two pair this year!
I love the banner that Mom made. You can see it in the background here.
I wonder what kind of cupcakes I can make for her next year. My kids will not hate me for not letting them have actual cakes on their birthday. They will love me for always making them cupcakes. (By the way, this is a long story.)
Derek mentioned that Michelle would like to make the birthday cake for one of my kids sometime. I told him very plainly that my kids don't have cakes for their birthdays they have cupcakes, that it is a tradition, and that if Michelle wanted she could decorate the cupcakes for Gentry's first birthday. (I already know what it will be!) Well, he tells me, Michelle doesn't know how to decorate cupcakes, she knows how to decorate cakes. Here comes Mom. She says that some day my kids will resent me for the things I won't let them do or have. Okay, I can live with that. They will still always have cupcakes on their birthdays. I'll pay for therapy later.
By the way Mom, we don't resent you for the things we couldn't do or have. Looking back, jelly shoes were not such a great idea and glitter hair is tacky. Thanks.
